Things I Am Excited For

Hello, reader! It’s been a while. Have you come for a bit of entertainment? I think I can oblige. How would you like it if I read your mind?

I know. You’re thinking, “I’ve said no. Why’s she still talking?” Now you’re thinking, “Fair enough. Maybe she really can read minds.” I can. And now you’re thinking, “Is this what she’s been doing for the past month? Working on her telepathy?”

That would be a good excuse for my blog post deficit, but sadly, that is not the case. Honestly, though, would you rather a month’s dry spell from P0serge3k or five consecutive posts about Harry Potter and how it shouldn’t be over and how the books are just as brilliant now as they were the day I first read them?

That’s what I thought.

So, moving on! A week from tonight, Doctor Who returns from its mid-series break with premeditated murder, the third reich, and continuing epic-ness from one Rory Williams. (See below.)

Speaking of perfect human beings (which Rory technically isn’t [trust the plastic!]), Joss Whedon is working his magic on The Avengers even as we speak, and I couldn’t be more excited. Recent footage shows general awesomeness, also available below:

And my final tidbit for the evening: season 7 of Supernatural. The new season premiers 23rd September, and sports a mini Buffy/Angel reunion in episode 5, “Shut Up, Dr. Phil,” which will guest star both James Marsters and Charisma Carpenter. As a couple. Be excited–I know I am!

The Avenging Firefly

Sounds like a crappy super hero, but really it’s just my lame attempt at a punny yet informative title.

So, basically I just wanted to geek out over the upcoming The Avengers film a little more, and this footage from the Oscars red carpet gave me the perfect opportunity!

So, basically, awesome. I mean, we all knew Joss was a ninja, but how exciting is it to hear it from someone as kick ass as Jeremy Renner? I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m thrilled that he’s been cast as Hawkeye. Granted, that’s mostly just because I remember him fondly as Penn from the Angel episode ‘Somnambulist,’ and also as Detective Walsh in The Unusuals. (Great show! Never watched it? You should!) Still and all, The Avengers is sure to be incredible, and I am bursting with excitement.

And…I’m over it. On to other matters: Firefly. (This is where you pretend to act surprised and try not to roll your eyes too pointedly.) Now, Browncoats all around the world have heard about the Science Channel’s airing of the series, which begins 6th March of this year, and Browncoats all around the world (myself included) have voiced their excitement. However, many (again, myself included) have also expressed concern. We all remember how Fox aired the episodes out of order and didn’t even bother showing three episodes, right? And what if the Science Channel made that same mistake??

Fear not, gentle readers, for the Science Channel will be airing Firefly in full, starting with the pilot–it’s not that hard a concept, Fox–and including ‘Trash,’ ‘The Message,’ and ‘Heart of Gold,’ which were not aired as part of the original series run. Rejoice!

And, if that’s not enough awesome for you in one post, ladies and gentleman, the musical stylings of Boba Fett:

Don’t say I never gave you anything.

Who says I can’t dwell?

San Diego Comic Con 2010 may have ended, but I’ve still got it on the brain. Sadly, the Comic Con fairy never came to take me, but G4’s coverage meant I got some great inside scoops, and as the exclusive trailers begin to air on television and the merchandise appears on eBay, I get some much enjoyed deja vu.

Comic Con this year boasted so many exciting new projects, and also got me pumped for things I already knew were in the works. I’m especially looking forward to the plethora of new comic book films that are on their way to the silver screen: Thor, Green Lantern, Captain America, The Avengers, The Green Hornet, and–of course–Scott Pilgrim vs. the World are all headed our way, leaving me in a prolonged state of anticipation and excitement. I also have high hopes for Sucker Punch, despite my lack of fondness for a certain cast member who shall remain nameless (*cough* Vanessa Hudgens *cough*). Maybe I’m being closed minded. We’ll see how I feel after I evaluate her performance in the film. Expect a blog about it.

Still, my favourite part of Comic Con is unequivocally the costumes. And on that note, here are a few that caught my interest this year:

The TARDIS gets a makeover. The TARDIS gets a makeover.

Also, bonus points to anyone (see how I’m assuming people actually read this blog?) who can find me a picture of the guy in the original Battlestar Galactica Starbuck costume. He was fantastic, and for some reason I can’t locate that picture I saw of him. I do know, however, that there’s footage of him in the G4 Comic Con coverage.
